And The Avengers 2 Title is…

…and I will get to that in a second.

Let me first begin by saying that this time of the year is hectic for movie fans. With the San Diego Comic Con on the way, news is just pouring out of California. Every time you turn there is a new tidbit being released. I can only imagine how many poor nerds have simply keeled over from excitement today First, the big news from DC and Snyder that Batman will be heading our way again in 2015 in the “Man of Steel” sequel, and now Marvel stepped up it’s game and didn’t disappoint by revealing some big news about the next “Avengers” movie (yes, there were other panels today such as “Wolverine” and “X-Men: Days of Futures Past” but they didn’t drop anything that was truly jaw dropping).

According to hollywoodreporter.com, Marvel finally revealed, not only the title of the upcoming sequel to 2012’s monster hit “The Avengers,” they also finally revealed who the villain of that movie will be. I will say this first before I reveal it-I was surprised. Not a bad surprise or a good surprise. Just merely surprised and I will explain more below.

So, are you ready for it?

Here it is-the title and villain of “The Avengers 2″…

Yup, there you go boys and girls. The main villain to the sequel of “The Avengers” will be Ultron. I, for one, thought it was going to be Thanos since they revealed him in the post credit sequence in the original movie. I’m guessing they are holding his badassery until The Avengers 3. We will see.

Now, for those of you who do not know who Ultron is here is a brief summary of his life thanks to our friends over at wikipedia:

He (Ultron) is the creation of Henry Pym (Ant-Man). The robot gradually developed its own intelligence and rebelled, and almost immediately suffers from an Oedipus Complex, whereby it feels irrational hatred for his “father” Hank, and demonstrates an interest in Hank’s lover Janet van Dyne, the Wasp. Rebuilding itself, learning how to turn itself on, and upgrading five times, Ultron then hypnotizes Pym and brainwashes  him into forgetting that the robot had ever existed.

Wow. I guess that since Ultron is the creation of Pym, I am assuming they will introduce Pym in the movie before he gets his own standalone feature? I actually find that idea to be interesting as it sets up the character and introduces him to the audience before he becomes an acting member of The Avengers. Nevertheless, I am looking forward to this villain. I felt the Avengers got off pretty easy in the first one with Loki as the main antagonist. Yeah, they dealt with the Chitauri who whopped them up pretty bad but there is nothing like an awesome showdown with a super villain. You didn’t get that with Loki. The Hulk smashed him easily and that was pretty much it. Now, don’t get me wrong. I loved Loki. I thought he was done perfectly. I just wanted a little bit more. Hopefully we will get that in the next one.

The Avengers: Age of Ultron hits theaters in 2015
